FIXTURES: 2022 Australia Cup Round of 32 Fixtures
Adelaide City 1-0 Western Sydney Wanderers - 2014 Round of 32
It did not take long for the first Cupset to amount during the competition's inaugural Round of 32 back in 2014.
And it was the former NSL heavyweights Adelaide City who enjoyed their time back in the sum as they spectacularly toppled one of the pre-Cup favourites, the Western Sydney Wanderers.
Fresh off a runners-up finish, and of course a few months before going on to be crowned kings of Asia, the Red and Black would prove to be no match for their NPL SA counterparts.
On an unforgettable night at the Marden Sports Complex, the two sides were split by a superb solo effort from Thomas Love, who converted with 15 minutes remaining to earn Damien Mori's side headlines across the nation.
It was the first major shock in Australia Cup history, and Adelaide City are hoping to create more magic moments in 2022.
They'll face Logan Lightning in the Round of 32 on Wednesday, July 27.
Green Gully 2-1 Central Coast Mariners - 2016 Round of 32
Matchday two of the 2016 Australia Cup Round of 32 saw an absolutely blockbuster conclusion unfold, as NPL Victoria side Green Gully advanced at the expense of the Central Coast Mariners.
It was the A-League outfit who struck first through Blake Powell.
The Mariners found themselves within five minutes of advancement before Green Gully skipper Daniel Jones popped up to restore parity; and it looked as though the match was all but set to go the distance.
But Liam Boland had other ideas.

With less than 90 seconds to play in injury time, the striker picked up the ball off a cheap turnover from Roy O'Donovan, swiveled and perfectly struck a looping effort from long, long range.
The ball would loop into the back of the net, sealing an instantly iconic Australia Cup moment and a true Cupset to remember.
Boland, the man responsible for it all, will be back in action on the opening night of the Australia Cup next week, pulling on an Avondale shirt as they take on Mindil Aces in the Northern Territory.
Redlands United 2-1 Adelaide United - 2016 Round of 32
Just as the football community was soaking up the incredible scenes at Green Gully, Australia Cup magic would strike twice in the space of two days.
And it was the second-oldest football club in Queensland, Redlands United, who pulled off the greatest shock in the club's history as they slayed reigning A-League Champions Adelaide United.
All seemed to be sticking to the script when Ryan Kitto opened the scoring for the Reds in the 62nd minute.
That was until a moment of madness with seconds remaining gifted the home side an equaliser, as Michael Lee took full advantage of a disastrous defensive mix-up to tap home into an empty net and send the tie to extra time.
Paul O'Brien then converted in the 98th minute to turn the tides and spark jubilant full time scenes at Perry Park.
"When the Reds go marching in" bellowed out after the game, signifying a night to remember for the Reds of Redland and at the expense of the Reds from Adelaide.
Blacktown City 3-2 Central Coast Mariners - 2017 Round of 32
Joey Gibbs was the name on everyone's lips as NPL NSW side Blacktown City trumped the Central Coast Mariners in a five-goal thriller at Lily Holmes Stadium back in 2017.
The former Sydney FC, Western Sydney Wanderers and Newcastle Jets striker who opened the scoring with a well-struck free kick less than two minutes, before Giorgio Speranza popped up to double the host's lead.
A crowd of over 1100 fans were momentarily silenced as Kwabena Appiah scored on either side of half time to even the ledger, but Gibbs still had one more magical moment up his sleeve.
With eight minutes to play, the marksman born on the Central Coast tucked home the winner to sink the Mariners.
Heidelberg United 1-0 Perth Glory - 2017 Round of 32
George Katsakis’ men were drawn to play Hyundai A-League side Perth Glory – FFA Cup finalists in 2014 and ’15 – in a tough Round of 32 assignment.
But at a heaving Olympic Village, Heidelberg put in a top shift against A-League opposition with Kenny Athiu’s goal early in the second-half enough for a 1-0 win.
It was nothing less than United deserved as they became the fourth Member Federation club to dump out the full-time professionals from the A-League.
United will look to create another magical cup night when they host Brisbane Roar at Olympic Village on Wednesday, July 27 in this year's Round of 32.
APIA Leichhardt 3-2 Melbourne Victory - 2018 Round of 16
In 2018, Sydney's inner west played host to a dramatic night that was a crowning moment in APIA Leichhardt's rich history.
Three months after Melbourne Victory secured the A-League Championship in Newcastle, they were trumped by APIA Leichhardt in an epic 90-minute battle at Leichhardt Oval.
The match followed a similar pattern to Blacktown's win over the Mariners; with the NPL NSW outfit finding themselves in dreamland with a first-half 2-0 lead.
APIA's advantage came courtesy of a brace from Japanese maestro Tasuku Sekiya; however two goals in the space of six minutes from Australia Cup specialist Kenny Athiu would leave the sides level just after the hour mark.
However there would be one last twist to the tale, as with ten minutes remaining Nathan Millgate rose highest to head home Franco Parisi's set piece - to the absolute delight of the passionate fans in the stands.
APIA couldn't repeat the dose in the Quarter Finals against future Champions Adelaide, but did pull off another major Round of 16 Cupset in 2021, defeating Western Sydney Wanderers 2-1 at Leichhardt Oval.
Bentleigh Greens 1-0 Wellington Phoenix - 2018 Round of 32
Victorian NPL club Bentleigh Greens wrote their name into Australia Cup folklore in the 2018 Round of 32 by knocking A-League outfit Wellington Phoenix out of the competition.
The Greens became just the sixth Member Federation club to topple their professional counterparts in the Australia Cup’s history, with Marco Jankovic’s first-half header enough to give them a 1-0 win despite playing the majority of the match with 10 men.
Brisbane Strikers 2-2 Wellington Phoenix (Strikers win 4-2 on penalties) - 2019 Round of 32
The magic of the cup was in full effect when NPL QLD outfit Brisbane Strikers earned an unexpected win over Hyundai A-League side Wellington Phoenix in a thrilling FFA Cup Round of 32 clash at Perry Park.
In that classic contest back in August, the hosts took an unlikely lead through Hiroki Omori in the first half, and if the Phoenix were shocked to go into half time trailing 1-0 they were completely dumbfounded as Andy Pengelly extended the Strikers’ lead to two on 54 minutes.
But a young Phoenix side - who fielded a starting eleven with an average age of 21.1 in what was Ufuk Talay's first match at the helm - weren’t ready to roll over. They mounted a fierce comeback kick-started by a goal to Cameron Devlin with half an hour to play and capped off by a Callum McCowatt strike ten minutes later.
The game continued into extra time and the Phoenix were handed the chance to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat when a handball in the box led to a penalty which David Ball stepped up to take.
His strike arrowed toward the left side of goal but Strikers ‘keeper Bon Scott was up to the challenge, leaping to his right to palm it away.
A penalty shootout ensued and once again Ball stepped up to the spot and fluffed his lines, sending Scott the wrong way but blasting his shot over the bar.
Scott saw his chance to be a hero and pounced on McCowatt’s penalty attempt to hand Fraser Hills the chance to win the Strikers the game, which he took with aplomb.
The scenes at Perry Park after Hills penalty hit the back of the net were manic, and with good reason: the Strikers were on a roll, and their win over the Phoenix was just the start as they progressed all the way to the semi-finals where they finally fell to Melbourne City.
APIA Leichhardt 2-1 Western Sydney Wanderers - 2021 Round of 16
APIA Leichhardt caused the only Cupset of 2021 with a nail-biting 2-1 win over Western Sydney Wanderers at Leichhardt Oval.
Former Wanderers trialist Jason Romero opened the scoring for APIA in the first half after the home side capitalised on a Ziggy Gordon error.
Tynan Diaz then scored one of the best long-range goals in FFA Cup history with a stunning lob over Wanderers goalkeeper Daniel Margush.
It proved to be the winner, with Wanderers' goal with 20 minutes to go not enough to spark a comeback.
