O’Connor Knights 4-2 Monaro Panthers
O’Connor Knights began their qualifying campaign in strong form, defeating Canberra Olympic and Queanbeyan City to advance into Preliminary Round Six.
Their 3-1 victory over Gungahlin United was a highly chaotic affair, as a brace from Michael Adams and a goal to Aisosa Ihegie were subsidised by three red cards to O’Connor Knights’ opponents, with two coming in the 22nd and 27th minutes of the first half.
In Preliminary Round Seven, against Monaro Panthers, another goal from Ihegie, as well as a brace from Jackson Paesler and a goal from Patrick O’Rourke saw O’Connor Knights through, where they will prepare to face A-League Men side Macarthur FC in their first Australia Cup Finals appearance.
