Road to the Round of 32:

  • Melbourne Knights FC 0-2 South Melbourne FC

  • South Melbourne FC 4-3 Eastern Lions SC

  • Preston Lions FC 2-5 South Melbourne FC

  • South Melbourne FC 1-0 St Albans Saints SC

South Melbourne went through an entertaining qualifying campaign, with the perfect mixture of close encounters, drama and a couple of high-scoring games.

They were given a difficult start when facing fellow NPL Victoria side the Melbourne Knights, before requiring a 4-3 victory to get past NPL Victoria 2 side Eastern Lions, where they had to fight off a late, dramatic comeback from their opponents.

They then defeated another NPL Victoria 2 side - Preston Lions FC - with five different goalscorers netting goals, before winning their Preliminary Round Seven clash against St Albans Saints thanks to a 48th-minute goal from Nahuel Bonada.
