The victor of Saturday’s Final will not only be crowned FFA Cup 2021 winners, but also secure Australia’s third and final slot in the 2022 AFC Champions League.

After starting their run to the final in the play off round, Victory booked their spot in Saturday’s decider with wins over Perth Glory, Adelaide City, Gold Coast Knights, Adelaide United and Wellington Phoenix.

Despite trailing by a goal at the break to the Phoenix in last weekend’s Semi Final, Victory stormed home in the second half, scoring four goals in the last 25 minutes to secure their spot in a second ever FFA Cup Final.

The Mariners reached the final for the first time in their history with four wins on the road, defeating Blacktown City, Wollongong Wolves, APIA Leichhardt and Sydney FC on their way to the final.

Marco Urena’s spot-kick seven minutes from full time proved decisive in the Mariners history making 1-0 Semi Final win over Sydney FC.

Saturday’s Final will be the first time that Melbourne Victory and Central Coast Mariners have faced each other in seven seasons of the FFA Cup.

The last A-League meeting between the sides was 1-1 draw at AAMI Park at the back end of the 2020/21 season that saw the sides trade goals through Matt Simon and Callum McManaman.

Victory currently sit second on the A-League ladder with 15 points to their name while the Mariners are six points further back in seventh position.
