Queensland club Peninsula Power is one step closer to booking their ticket to the FFA Cup Round of 32 for the second time.
They did it in style too, the second-tier side from Redcliffe knocking off last year’s NPL QLD premiers Brisbane Strikers 3-0 on Tuesday night.
Two goals in the first-half did much of the damage, and they came from Power making the most of their set-piece opportunities.
Ramon Close opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a goal from a corner, and Richard Hurlin doubled Power’s advantage from the free kick in the 36th minute.
Shaun Feuerriegel tied things up with a goal of his own in the 76th minute to stretch Power’s unbeaten run to 17 games.
The win sets up a mouth-watering seventh round clash between Power and Lions FC, who currently sit fourth in the NPL QLD.
Triumph in that clash, set down for the June long weekend, would see Power through to the Round of 32 for the second time.
