After the conclusion of the Hahn Australia Cup 2025, we analysed the numbers to find the top-performing players throughout another exhilarating rendition of the famous tournament.

Read on to see the star performers from the competition.

The top attackers

It was Avondale FC forward Manyluak Aguek who led the way in the 2025 Australia Cup tournament, as he won the golden boot by scoring a prolific six goals in four games.

Aguek was also top of the charts for combined goals and assists, earning eight goal contributions across the tournament - an average of two per match.

Teammate Luka Tevere was closely behind in terms of goals, netting four from his four matches.

Tevere also emerged with some impressive other stats to his name - he was the only player to score from a free kick in the tournament, while being the sole player to hit the woodwork more than once (2) in the tournament.

Interestingly, Tevere and Aguek were the only two players to take more than two penalties, with Tevere scoring both and Aguek scoring one.

Avondale’s Kristian Trajceski won three of those penalties, as he was the only player in the competition to earn a team more than one spot-kick during the tournament.

In terms of assists, Denis Daluri emerged as the leader, with all four of his coming in Nunawading City’s stunning 9-0 thrashing of Darwin Olympic SC.

Australia Cup winner Max Burgess picked up the second-most with three, while also being one of four players to have the joint-second most goals and assists (5).

Meanwhile, another Avondale player finished top for successful dribbles, with Emlyn Wellsmore finishing with nine, closely followed by Daluri (7) in second place.

Passing

The top three for accurate passes in the tournament all belong to winners Newcastle Jets, with Aleksandar Susnjar leading the way (318), followed by Max Cooper (282) and Kosta Grozos (268).

Further up the field, the Champions once set the standard, with Burgess (116), Kota Mizunuma (97), Daniel Wilmering (80) and Alexander Badolato (79) making up the top four for passes completed in the final third.

For key passes, Mizunuma finished top (18), while Tevere and Auckland FC’s Francis De Vries recorded the second most (12).

Meanwhile, finalist Yaren Sozer played the most successful long balls of any player at the tournament (37), followed by Heidelberg teammate Benjamin Collins (29) and Jets defender Susnjar (23).

Defensive excellence

Heidelberg midfielder Anthony Lesiotis finished as the standout in the defensive stats, with no player recording more tackles (26) or interceptions (10) than the Australia Cup finalist.

Wellsmore (18) and APIA’s Cameron Fong (14) ranked second and third for tackles, while Wellington Phoenix’s Isaac Hughes (10) and Olympic Kingsway’s Joshua Samson (9) followed the same pattern for interceptions.

Meanwhile, Heidelberg also led the way for clearances, with Benjamin Collins (38) and Ryan Lethlean (36) taking home the top two, followed by Cooper (29).

The NPL Victorian players were also dominant in ground duels, with Lesiotis (40), followed by four Avondale players, namely Wellsmore (31) and Yitayew Towns (22), who finished in second and third.

Yaren Sozer, who also kept a clean sheet in four of his five Australia Cup games, was top for saves, stopping an astonishing 26 shots throughout the tournament, an average of 5.2 per match.

He was followed by Brisbane City’s Josh Langdon (17) and James Delianov (17), who lifted the trophy with the Newcastle Jets as the Hahn Australia Cup 2025 Winners.
